Privacy policy

Your texts are sorted on your phone and don't go to a server. Only if you choose to, texts you correct are shared with their numbers masked.

Your messages

When a text arrives from a sender who isn't in your contacts, iOS hands its text and sender number to NoNudge's filter extension. The extension classifies it with the on-device AI model and your rules, and tells iOS the result. The text isn't saved. Apple doesn't let filter extensions go online, and NoNudge doesn't try.

What stays on your phone

  • Your settings and the rules you write.
  • Daily counts, for example "4 junk today". Only numbers, never message content; deleted after 60 days.
  • Texts you correct with Report in Messages. They appear in the app's Corrections list, where you can delete or export them. They aren't sent anywhere unless you choose to share.

All of this stays in the app's own storage and is removed when you delete the app.

Texts you choose to share

If Share corrections is on in Settings (it's off by default and the app asks first), texts you correct with Report are sent to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) when you open the app, and used to train the next model. Texts you send from the app's Report tab are sent the same way.

What's sent: the text (numbers of 4 or more digits replaced with 0s, email addresses replaced with a placeholder), the type you picked, NoNudge's prediction, the kind of sender (number, short code or company name; phone numbers are never sent, company names are), app and model version, and language. Your phone number, device identifier and name are never sent.

Usage statistics and crash reports

NoNudge uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used: screens opened, kinds of rules saved, and counts of texts set aside in the last 7 days. Message content is never part of this.

If the app crashes, a crash report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so the bug can be found and fixed: the line of code where it crashed, device model, iOS and app version, and a random installation identifier. Message content is never part of it.

No advertising identifier is collected, and the data isn't used for ads or tracking and isn't sold. Turning off Anonymous usage statistics in Settings stops both.

Notifications

The weekly summary notification is scheduled on your phone; you can turn it off in Settings. Announcements are sent with Firebase Cloud Messaging, which creates a notification token for your device. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.

What there isn't

No account, ads or tracking. The SMS filter and the Report extension in Messages never go online.

Children
